The official kick-off meeting for the XR-SENSE project brought together the consortium’s 18 academic and industrial partners in Patras, Greece, to align on the strategic vision and immediate operational milestones. The first day focused primarily on administrative coordination, financial guidelines, and establishing the governance structure necessary to manage this complex, multi-national Horizon Europe initiative. Each Work Package (WP) leader presented their respective roadmaps, detailing the specific deliverables, interdependencies, and upcoming timelines for the project’s foundational phases. A major emphasis was placed on setting up the technical infrastructure, communication channels, and risk management frameworks required to ensure seamless cross-border collaboration over the project’s lifecycle.
The remainder of the meeting shifted toward technical synchronization and conceptual refinement of the core XR-SENSE architecture. Partners held interactive workshops to deeply define the integration points between the xSense, xStream, and xHuman modules, ensuring that human-centered priors and edge-computing requirements are embedded into the technology from day one. Additionally, representatives from the three high-impact pilot domains—Autonomous Vehicles, Remote Surgery, and XR Broadcasting—led dedicated sessions to outline user requirements, ethical considerations, and data collection protocols.
